JAI DUGGAR

Hello! Toh kaise hai aap sab? so let's start. If there is something most important in life, then it is LIFE itself. This was late 34 year old Sushant Singh Rajput's dialgoue from his last released movie, in which he showed and taught youngster how they should fight depression, tackle mental illness, never lose hope and that life should always move forward! But, obviously, no one knew that he would soon become the victim of depression and ultimately would end up taking his own life, committing suicide. Mind you, this is neither the first case nor the last! We quite often now hear depression and mental health related cases of celebrities, and even many of the common public every year become victim of mental illness. However, we would go to number later, first let's talk about our general attitude, perception and thinking towards mental health ; mental illness. Definitely, it must not be easy to commit suicide! And I appeal to all those reading, never commit suicide, it is not the answer to the problems. please!
But, remember, if anyone is committing suicide, then do not label it, because it can never be an instant decision. Also, we get surprised looking at celebrities committing suicides more, because as per our created standards, they have fame and enough MONEY to buy every LUXURY. We think they have everything in the world. They still commit suicide, because, you may have everything that could be bought with MONEY, but despite everything, you may still not have mental peace! Quite clearly, Sushant Singht Rajput also did not have that mental peace.

As shocking it is, it is the bitter truth too. Mental peace and well being does not come with more or less money. Do remember that where we easily conclude that committing suicide is failure of an individual, we should not forget that him/ her committing suicide is also a failure of his/ her society and community. The reason being that, a person suffering from mental illness, I know that all they want is someone to hear them out! And they should communicate, because communication is the only way. Communicating and listening can make things better!
But the harsh reality of our society is, that mostly people do not listen to them. We neglect them by saying to them things like "Chill bro", "You're overthinking", "You're behaving so because of lack of sleep", "Relax, stop with your nonsense", "Stop acting melodramatic and say something", etc etc. We think, we are clever and they are dumb! We basically end up neglecting them!
Just imagine if we are able to listen to them, just one, and manage to share their load, taking them away from suicide, it could make world of a difference. Hence, if, God gave us that chance to become the source of their healing and cure, and if we knowingly or unknowingly ended up neglecting it. Then, we would be questioned on the FINAL DAY, that we could have been a helping hand, we could have been a support, but we DENIED, we NEGLECTED that! This means that the suicide is then the WHOLE SOCIETY'S FAILURE!
One of the main reason for this collective societal failure is that, the states have done nothing. As per WHO(WORLD HEALTH ORGANISATION), more than 40% countries do not even possess a mental health policy. Which means they have no VISION, VALUES, SYSTEM, STRATEGY for mental illness. When you do not have any of these, then how would you even embed this into your citizens that there is something like mental health and mental illness, which should be accepted and respected. More than 30% countries do not even have a single mental health programme and 40% do not even have any legislation for mental health & illness. Moreover, more than 33% countries spend LESS THAN 1% of their budget towards mental illness. while less than 33% allocate 1% only! 25% countries in the world do not even care to keep the most commonly prescribed drug for depression and epilepsy. Which means that while you're unable to provide them emotional support as a society, you also aren't able to provide them with the most basic drugs required to cure. It's a failure! We are still not ready to accept it, and we are still happy to be blindfolded from harsh reality! The situation is so worse that more than 50% countries have 1 hospital bed per 10,000 mental disorder patients, and 1 psychiatrist per 100,000 citizens, IS IT A JOKE!? It's a wake up call. Again & again! We even have so many FAMOUS examples from Anthony Bourdain to Sushant Singh Rajput. Name it! Suicide is never an answer.

But do we have that emotional intelligence as a society? Do we have awareness towards it? For example, every year, 800,000 people commit suicide due to depression/ mental illness. Moreover, for every 1 of those 800k, 20 attempt but thankfully fail to suicide, which totals to 800k successful and 160 million unsuccessful suicide attempts every year. It's a failure of the state, failure of the society, to not listen to them. You'd be shocked that suicide is the second most common way of death for youth aged 15 to 29. Having said that, if we start LISTENING, embracing EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE & EMPATHY, it would make world of a difference! But, still, we are unable to. Its our failure, and its about time we realize it! PLEASE understand mental illness. Please listen to people. Don't NEGLECT them by saying "Chill bro", "You cry a lot", "It'll be alright", etc. At least listen to them man! Then, it'll definitely be alright.
Today i listened, a 16 years boy from kathua committed suicide. And the reason behind it was that he failed in 10th examination(JKBOSE). What is happening to people? Was that right what the boy did? Absolutely, NO!. Please either study hard or have enough courage to face the reality. Imagine the condition of his parents, This is worse than seeing his results. so, everyone there, if you find someone needs your help, then please step forward in this. Again FOR GOD SAKE! if you are suffering any problem share to your loveones. TAKE CARE. GUD BYE.
Thanks.
